Fresh Start

The season really never ends. We are all back down in Mammoth California, training again for next season. I am very sorry that I didn’t do a better job at keeping my blog up to date. This last year didn’t turn out the way I had hoped or expected. On paper, the results never really came. But when I take a step back and think about my season, I feel that a lot of good things have come out of it. I have learned a lot about this sport and myself in the last few months. I feel that my disappointments this season in the long run will help me succeed in the future. On top of that, I am having the time of my life and am so grateful to be doing what I love.

On a down note, I have just found out that I will have to pay the comp part of this upcoming season. Not a huge deal but something that I was not expecting at all. The U.S. Ski Team does a good job at raising money for us, but with the dollar so weak against the Euro it is very hard to get all the funding. This means that the Men C team will have to pay a little this season. We are doing a huge fundraiser at Mt. Hood this summer. We will be offering a ski day with us on Saturday the 19th of July. That night there will be a banquet and auction. Then on Sunday there will be a ski race and golf tournament with a team format. If you are at all interested commit, on this blog, and I will get right back to you.

Thank you so much for all the support. I will get better at this blog thing. Hopefully.. Until next time. Keep it smooth.

Will

    Dear Will,
If I know you, you either fell or won your events. Not that I really know anything, but I always remember your all-out spirit - either win or die trying! I have no doubt that your season next year and beyond will only get better and better.

What a blast it would be to ski with you in July! I have no idea if that would ever work out for us but I will let Eric know and since it's not that far, maybe we could at least tootle on down. How much will it be to ski with you?

Wyatt is graduating HS on June 6. Forrest is in Argentina studying Spanish literature and Argentine history. His classes are over on July 15 which is the day that Wyatt will fly down to travel with him for three weeks. They will be back around August 6. Forrest will have been gone from home since January 2nd so you know I'll be happy to see them both return.

Wyatt is headed for Middlebury, too, next year as a February admit. He was also wait-listed at Brown which made him really, really excited. So now, he's trying to claw his way off the wait-list and, he hopes, to do a gap year and matriculate to Brown in the fall of 2009. Keep your fingers xed for him! He also decided to run track this spring for the first time - so he could get out of some of the play rehearsals - and on Tuesday at Districts qualified to go to state in all the events in which he ran - the 200, 400, the 400 relay and the 1600 relay. He's even set a school record in the 400! I guess those long legs can do more than play soccer and basketball!

Mattie is also running track and made it to districts. Best of all, she loves it. It's really the perfect sport for her - like ski racing, you're competing against others but you're competing against yourself as well so there are lots of ways to win and she's really done well. She's healthy and happy and going to prom with a junior on the track team. For a 9th grade girl, that's about as much as you could ask of life!

Eric and I are fine. Real estate is slower than I wish it was but I'm fairly busy. Eric and I have been riding our bikes some and hope - if spring will ever actually arrive and hang out for a while - to do a lot more.

Give yourself a hug from all the Ormes and know that we LOVE hearing from you via blog. Give our love to your Mom and Dad and sprinkle a little on yourself as well. Keep skiing fast and have a blast!

    Love,

    Olivette

    Hey Will

Sounds like you are putting things in proper perspective... It's a journey, so enjoy it! You have the skills, just keep up the hard work and all will be fine.

If it doesn't rain soon, I might be done with wheat harvest by July 19th! We'll see if we can't swing coming down and having some fun with you. We'll be at Golden Rose in a couple of weeks. Then we're hosting the PNSA Convention in Richland the following weekend and Monica and I are getting married the next Saturday! Tiffany and Trevor are doing well. Tiff has turned into a helluva coach and all the kids like her. Sienna and Gracie are headed to Hood for Taggert's speed camp in June and Lyon's tech camp in July. Like you said, the season never really ends...

If we can't make the fundraiser, let me know what's on the auction block and I'll help the cause!

    George
